July 29th – 30th
The Skip Barber Championship Series traveled to Thompson Speedway in CT for rounds #7 & #8. Having never been to Thompson before, Devin spent the first day getting a feel of the track. He qualified 3rd in his group by a close .3 second margin from the pole. However, he had an uncharacteristic “4-off” during the qualifying session which placed him at the back of the grid for the start of the 1st race.
Race #1 saw Devin have a great start. He was able to move from 9th place in the back of the grid to finish 4th on a track that supposedly only has one place to pass due to its tight corners and one short straight. Devin started the 2nd race from 5th position and again demonstrated his developing racecraft to eventually pilot his car to a 2nd place finish.
